What is filler masterbatch?

Filler masterbatch is the specially formulated compound of ultrafine calcium carbonate (CaCO3) powder and blended polyolefin that regularly used in plastic industry to adjust physical properties of base materials, aiming to enhance quality of final products and effectively reduce cost during production. At EuP, with twin-screw machines as well as production systems imported from Germany, we guarantee our masterbatches are customized and tailored-made that ensuring to meet high standards and satisfy any requirement from you.

Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) Masterbatch, also called Taical, is a high-quality additive filler masterbatch in which its compositions include small calcium carbonate particles and substrates (primary plastic pellets) like LLDPE, HDPE. CaCO3 masterbatches are widely used plastic industry as a substitute to the virgin polymer in the purpose of helping to improve the properties of finished products, hence minimizing costs as well as increasing, durability, productivity and profitability for your manufacturer as well as improving use values of the products.

Our product is most applied in plastic bags, industrial films and packaging materials production (with PE Filler Masterbatch), HDPE mold and PP mold.

PE FILLER MASTERBATCH

Our PE Filler Masterbatch is the polyethylene-based masterbatch with variable crystal structure, containing fine pure Calcium Carbonate CaCO3 powder, polyethylene PE as the carrier and other appropriate additives. PE is the most produced plastic in the world, accounted for 34% of the total plastics market with over 100 million tones manufactured annually (data of 2017). Depending on demands of customer, PE masterbatches compositions will be adjusted to suitable with several properties such as anti-conductive, heat-resisting or waterproof. Owning the high-quality resources of limestone in Vietnam, our PE masterbatch products achieve the most whiteness and awesome dispersion with excellent compatibility.

Optical properties:

  • Transparent (almost clear)
  • Translucent (milky opaque)
  • Opaque
  • Surface color: white

Physical/Mechanical properties:

  • Density: 0.88 – 0.96 g/cm3
  • Melting point: ~120oC leading to limited thermal-resistant ability.
  • Good electrical insulator
  • Moderate to low strength, hardness, rigidity and friction by can be modified by additives
  • High ductility

Chemical properties:

  • Chemical formula: (C2H4)n
  • Insoluble in water, fatty alcohols, acetone at any temperature
  • Only soluble In solvents containing toluene, xylene, essential oils at approximately 70oC
  • Does not interact with acid, alkaline and bromine.

  • Plastic Bags, packaging materials
  • Industrial membranes, plastic films
  • Pipes Extrusion, molded items
  • Containers (e.g. water tanks, bottles, etc.)

PP FILLER MASTERBATCH

PP Filler Masterbatch, which is known as polypropene, is one of the mostly used commodity polymers (the annual global production of 2013 was 55 million tones) with a wide variety of applications. PP masterbatch can be the main or sub ingredient for housewares productions. By using this material, the final products can achieve excellent elongation and strength, water-resistance while the manufacturers can bring down the productive cost effectively. PP is also an environmental-friendly material since it is recyclable.

Optical properties:

  • Translucent when uncolored
  • Often opaque when colored

Physical/Mechanical properties:

  • Density: 0.86 – 0.95 g/cm3
  • Melting point: ~130 oC
  • Thermal expansion is large, good thermal resistance but less than PE
  • Normally tough and flexible, beneficially used in engineering plastic

Chemical properties:

  • Chemical formula: (C3H6)n
  • Good chemical resistance but less than PE
  • At room temperature: resistant to almost organic sovents
  • At high temperature: can be dissolved in nonpolar solvents

Applications:

  • Woven and non-woven clothing and stuffs, sacks and rolls
  • Manufacturing piping systems
  • Construction (plastic furnitures, doors, windows, chairs, tables, etc.)
  • Packaging and labeling
  • Alternaotive to PVC as insulaption for electrical cables

HD Filler Masterbatch

HD Filler Masterbatch contains 70% of CaCO3 powder and 30% of additives and other plastic contents (PE carrier), thus appears in the highest whiteness and best diffusion without striation or scrape and expresses the excellent compatibility with the highest tensile strength and awesome dispersion ability. Our HD filler masterbatch offers cost savings solution as well as improving the hardness, surface features, heat resistance, physical, and chemical durability of plastic products.

  • Injection molding

HIPS Filler Masterbatch 

HIPS (high impact polystyrene) Filler consists of Calcium Carbonate CaCO3 powder, carrier resin and other additives. Containing high CaCO3 loading benefited from high-calcium limestones resources in Vietnam, HIPS Filler delivers whiteness and excellent dispersion with good compatibility while maintaining light weight property of the materials. It offers cost reduction as well as improving the hardness, surface features, heat resistance and physical or chemical durability of plastic products.

Transparent Filler

EuroPlas provides special transparent filler with the best quality that is suitable for being an additive in the mixture of other aggressive compounds, in order to reduce the final product prices or to enhance the usability as well as to serve the purpose of adjusting other properties of synthetic resin without losing the inherent properties and colors of the original materials.

Applications:

  • Raffia Tapes: PP, HDPE, Low or high denier fabric; Lino bags; FIBC (jumbo bags); all kind of tarpaulins
